A couple of common reasons: the post might genuinely be photo-only (some error messages like "no video formats found" just mean it's an image, not a bug) — the tool automatically tries a second method in that case, so it usually still works. If it's a Story or private account, you'll need the Cookie option below. Instagram also occasionally changes things on their end that can take us a little time to catch up to — if a link that should work keeps failing, try again in a few minutes.

Stories and private-account content aren't publicly reachable — Instagram requires a logged-in session to view them at all. Pasting your own account's Cookie header lets us fetch that content using your session, the same way your own browser would.

It's used only for that single request, sent directly to Instagram to authenticate the fetch, and deleted from our server immediately afterward — see the Privacy Policy for the exact mechanics. That said, a session cookie is sensitive — it's functionally equivalent to being logged into your account — so only paste it into tools you trust, and never share that value anywhere else.

In Chrome, open DevTools (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+I) → Network tab, visit instagram.com, click on any request to instagram.com in the list, and copy the full value of the "Cookie" request header shown for that request.
